Can I translate a PDF here today?
Not yet. Translate PDF is still being built, so this page can't translate documents right now.
Which languages will Translate PDF support?
We're aiming for English, Hindi and other Indian languages, but the final list isn't ready.
Will the translated PDF keep the original layout?
That hasn't been decided. Keeping tables and layout exactly is hard, so the first version may give you the translated text in a clean new layout.
How can I read an English document in Hindi meanwhile?
Copy the text out with PDF to Text and paste it into a translation app you trust.
Can it translate a scanned or photographed document?
Scans will need OCR first. Our OCR PDF tool already reads Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and other Indian languages and gives you the text.
Will the translation be good enough for official use?
Machine translation can get names, numbers and legal terms wrong. For court, visa or government submissions you will usually still need a certified translator.
Will translating need an internet connection?
Yes. Translation will use an AI service, so the text would have to be sent to it. How that works hasn't been decided, and you'll be asked before anything is sent.
