US forms and documents
Tax forms, immigration forms and the ID copies landlords and employers ask for. Everything opens in your browser – your SSN never leaves your device.
Form W-9
Form W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) gives your name, address and Social Security number or EIN to a business that pays you, so it can report those payments to the IRS. You give it to the requester – it is not sent to the IRS.
Form W-4
Form W-4 (Employee's Withholding Certificate) tells your employer how much federal income tax to take out of each paycheck. You give it to your employer when you start a job or when your situation changes.
Form I-9
Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) confirms your identity and right to work in the US. The employee fills Section 1 by their first day of work; the employer completes Section 2 after checking the original documents.
Form 1099-NEC
Form 1099-NEC reports what a business paid a contractor or freelancer in a year – $2,000 or more for payments from 2026 ($600 for 2025 and earlier). The payer sends Copy B to the contractor and files Copy A with the IRS.
Form DS-11
Form DS-11 is the application for a new US passport, for first-time applicants, children under 16 and anyone who can't renew by mail. You take it, unsigned, to a passport acceptance facility.
USCIS form
USCIS forms such as the I-765, I-130, I-485 and N-400 are fillable PDFs. They are locked against editing, which is why some PDF apps won't let you type in them – but they open without a password and can be filled here.
Form W-2
Form W-2 shows what your employer paid you and the taxes withheld last year. Employers must send it by January 31. Lenders and landlords often ask for a copy as proof of income.
Driver's license
A US driver's license or state ID is the most common proof of identity – and of address, since it shows your home address. Apartments, banks and employers often ask for a copy of the front and back.
Social Security card
Your Social Security card shows your name and Social Security number. Employers and some agencies ask for a copy, but the number is valuable to identity thieves – share copies carefully.
Pay stubs
Pay stubs show your earnings and deductions for each pay period. Landlords and lenders usually ask for your last two or three (sometimes 30 days' worth) as proof of income.
Lease agreement
A residential lease sets the rent, deposit and rules for a rental. Landlords often send it as a PDF to sign and return.

Frequently asked questions
Can I fill IRS and USCIS forms on my phone?
Yes. Open the official PDF with Fill PDF form, tap each box and type. It works on iPhone and Android without an app.
Is it safe to put my SSN into an online PDF tool?
Most online editors upload your file to their servers. PDFtada doesn't: the form is filled inside your browser, so your SSN never leaves your device.
Why is my USCIS PDF locked?
USCIS locks its forms against editing, not opening. Many apps then refuse to type in them. Fill PDF form opens them normally.
